Ammon News - The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Institute For Inter-Faith Studies (RIIFS), HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal, Monday lectured about "global humanity" and basic human rights principles to realise a world order that protects human integrity and promotes communication.

During a meeting entitled "Religion, Man and Building Internal Peace," Prince El Hassan noted the need to enhance the concept of global humanity and build human consensus to counter the challenges and dangers that threaten humanity, reiterating the call for the establishment of an international institution for zakat and humanitarian solidarity.

The Prince highlighted the need to renew the societal and moral dimension in religious discourse through applying reason to devise appropriate rulings and solutions to advance civilisation, noting the importance of reconsidering concepts, finding outlets for understanding, resuming scientific research and combatting ignorance.

He presented the vision of the Tunisian Islamic jurist, Muhammad al-Taher bin Ashour, whose teaching promotes opening a wide field for "Ijtihad" since Islam did not aim to provide all answers in all aspects of life.

The Tunisian Minister of Religious Affairs, Ibrahim al-Shaibi, who moderated the meeting, noted the importance of integration between the efforts of specialists and others interested in the field of religious study in Jordan and Tunisia, praising Prince El Hassan for promoting tolerance.

The RIIFS, in cooperation with the Tunisian Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Tunisian Embassy in Amman, held the meeting.
