Jordan's tourism revenues at $2.870bln over 1st 7 months 2022

Ammon News - Minister of Tourism Nayef Fayez said the total number of tourists arriving to Jordan during the first seven months of 2022 rose to 2.5 million, marking a 220.4% surge, compared to the same period last year.

Speaking to Lowe House Finance Committee on Sunday, he noted the Kingdom's tourism revenues went up during the January-July period by 204.5%, amounting to about $2.870 billion, compared to the same period last year.

This growth was due to the increase in the number of tourists flocking Jordan by about 1.722 million visitors to stand at 2.503, he added.

The minister also noted monthly data showed an increase in tourism income during July, compared to the same month last year, by 123.3% to reach $673.3 million.

Regarding procedures implemented at King Hussein Bridge (KHB) and implications of operating Ramon Airport, Fayez said the government seeks to improve the border crossing conditions and services, adding fees paid by its travelers will also be revisited.
