Ammon News - The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, Musa Al-Maaytah, said that it is time for the university student to practice partisan work and belong to the Jordanian political parties, freely and democratically, without feeling obsessed with fear, given that party work has become part of public life in Jordan.

This came during his meeting with members of the American University Alumni Association, in the presence of the association's president, Dr. Marwan Kamal, and the vice president, Dr. Ezzat Jaradat.

Al-Maaytah stressed that today we are living in a transitional phase in the transition towards programmatic collective action through political parties instead of individual action, and that parties are national institutions that contribute to the development of societies and help in their stability.

Al-Maaytah said: The definition of democracy today is the voter's right to choose who represents him freely, with integrity and conviction, within clear practical programs based on diversity, pluralism, acceptance of others and the rule of law, and that His Majesty the King's call for a legislative environment that encourages partisan work to ensure the formation of realistic program parties is the catalyst. Maaytah also affirmed His Majesty the King's keenness to change the state's administration today, by increasing political participation, especially young people, and that dialogue should be the basis for persuading them to participate in politics and move towards a new stage of work, construction and achievement.

Al-Maaytah explained that the commission launched awareness campaigns with the aim of enhancing the participation of young people in political life in general and elections in particular, through the national campaign to promote popular participation (The Solution is Participation), and the I Participate Forum, which aims to integrate Jordanian youth at the university and school levels in dialogue and public action. He explained that the commission announced the completion of the first phase of the project to build the capacity of teachers in civil and political education in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and “Rased” Center.

For his part, Dr. Marwan Kamal said: The hope rests on the Jordanian society in strengthening and accepting political parties, the arrival of real parties, moving away from decorative parties and building a new political approach.
