Ammon News - Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat and Director General of National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), Hassan Abdullah, on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance joint cooperation aimed to ensure protection and stability of Jordan's electric grid and conserve forest wealth.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Hneifat said the MoU continues joint efforts aimed to preserve forest areas and avoid power outages and disruptions.
The minister also said the MoU is a framework to support joint partnership and coordination, helps speedy response, regulates work and reduces risks to electrical network's workers and protects green cover countrywide.
On future action, he said the ministry is mulling plans to cooperate with NEPCO to expand the Kingdom's green area.
For his part, NEPCO head said the memo would contribute to strengthen joint partnership and schedule works in all areas covered by the electric grid.
He also referred to joint efforts to establish a wide forest within sustainability measures, in coordination with Ministry of Agriculture.
The two sides agreed to work together to reduce power outages caused by falling trees, or overlap with electric wiring, in a balanced manner that preserves forest landscape, as the memo sets a specific detailed work mechanism for the two sides.
