Ammon News - The Ministry of Water and Irrigation has joined hands with international donors and experts to accelerate the exploration of water basins and deep water drawing.
The ministry has commenced drilling deep wells in the Husban region, a ministry statement said, noting that the first two wells with a capacity of about 300 cubic metres per hour, have been completed, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Reviewing efforts to meet water needs across the Kingdom, the statement highlighted the ministry’s plans and projects to improve service provisions, notably upgrading networks, cutting loss, and providing a sustainable water source from treated water, which reached about 200 million cubic metres per year.
About 93 per cent of the reclaimed water is reused as a sustainable source in the agricultural industry, the statement said.
To improve services provision, water and sewage projects worth about $700 million for sanitation, $100 million to change water networks and water tanks, and $350 million to complete projects related to network upgrading and reducing losses were launched, the ministry said.
