Ammon News - President of the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), Prof. Khalid El-Salem, on Tuesday met with Canada's Ambassador to Jordan Donica Petit.
The meeting, attended by a delegation from Canada's Memorial University of Newfoundland, covered ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides and various educational institutions and academic institutes in Canada.
Ambassador Petit lauded Canadian-Jordanian relations, as they are framed by a set of agreements, expressing the embassy's readiness to open channels of cooperation and communication with Canadian universities and institutions in various fields.
The ambassador commended JUST as a model for different cultures and it's reputation and progress in international rankings, which match prestigious universities in the world, stressing her country's keenness to strengthen and build strong educational relations between the two countries.
For his part, El-Salem reaffirmed JUST's keenness to expand cooperation with universities and educational institutions in various countries of the world for the benefit of both sides in all scientific fields and academic disciplines, especially since JUST has an environment and infrastructure for scientific research through a number of scientific centers.
He expressed his appreciation for the permanent cooperation between JUST and the Canadian embassy and the support provided by the Canadian government to a number of scientific and research projects implemented by JUST.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Memorial University of Newfoundland delegation gave a lecture to students and faculty members on student exchange programs, accommodation, training and joint research work.
