Ammon News - The Crown Prince Foundation (CPF) on Thursday concluded the 2021/2022 National Student Debate Competition, which kicked off Wednesday as part of the "I Participate" program.

The Jordan university of science and technology (JUST) took home first place, announced the CPF in a statement on Thursday. Winners of the nationwide competition, which brought together 72 participants from 12 universities, were handed trophies during the concluding ceremony at the Amman Bristol Hotel.

The "I Participate" program was implemented in 12 universities to boost the youth's capacities, knowledge of the democratic process's basic principles, and advocacy skills, said Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the CPF Ghassan Nuqul.

It offers a series of guided, interactive discussion sessions on democratic concepts and processes to raise awareness of Jordanian youth on political participation and create safe avenues for youth to discuss, debate, and exercise democratic principles and international best practices.

The competition, as the name implies, is a debate between student teams on a topic of public interest, in which they are expected to use the evidence-gathering and argumentation skills they acquired through the "I Participate" program to support their arguments on either side.
