Jordan partakes in rangeland development forum

Ammon News - Jordan participated in a regional political forum addressing challenges and opportunities for sustainable management of rangelands to decrease land degradation, currently held in Beirut, Lebanon.

Director of the Hashemite Fund for the Development of Jordan Badia (HFDJB) Jamal Fayez said the forum, which is the main activity of the Healthy Ecosystems for Rangeland Development (HERD) project, will tackle policies, challenges and gaps in rangeland management regionally and globally.

The forum, where several Arab decision-makers took part, seeks to attract investment for rangeland management, legislate public policies at the regional and international levels, and contribute to achieving global sustainable development goals.

On the sidelines of the gathering, HFDJB's Director and Lebanon's Agriculture Minister Abbas Hajj Hassan discussed prospects of cooperation in pastoral seedlings and medicinal and aromatic plant cultivation and the rehabilitation of pastoral reserves.
