Ammon News - AMMAN His Majesty King Abdullah II received on Sunday HP EMEA Managing Director & Senior Vice-President for HP Technology Solutions Group, Francesco Serafini.
During the meeting, attended by Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Marwan Jumaa, the King spoke about efforts to develop the information technology sector in the Kingdom.
King Abdullah said he was satisfied with the level of cooperation between Jordan and HP, noting that the opportunity existed to further bolster ties.
He pointed to Jordan's continued efforts to lure in the world's leading companies to open regional offices in the Kingdom.
His Majesty hailed HP's efforts to develop human resources in Jordan through supporting the Jordanian Educational Initiative.
Earlier in the day, HP announced it will open a regional centre in Jordan to serve Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon.
The company signed an agreement with the Jordanian government to establish the centre.
The deal was sealed by Jumaa and Serafini.
Serafini said Jordan was his company's choice due to its investment attractive environment and skilled human resources.
He added that the center would be opened in the coming few months and thanked the government for the facilities it had offered to his company.
HP would also sign a number of agreements with Jordanian universities to train students and staff on HP solutions, Serafini said.
