Ammon News - Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) Vice President Nabil Khatib and Brazilian Ambassador Ruy Amaral have discussed economic ties, exchanged products diversification, and the private sector's role in this regard.
According to an ACC statement on Wednesday, Khatib stressed the Chamber's interest in boosting investment relations with Brazil in various spheres, increasing trade exchange, and encouraging the private sector to organize joint projects.
He said trade exchange with Brazil in 2021 amounted to USD419 million, of which 293 million were imports to the Kingdom, while 126 million were Jordanian exports, mainly potash and fertilizers, expressing interest in reaching strategic cooperation in food security with Brazil.
The Chamber will promote Brazilian trade and investment opportunities to all commercial and services sectors, he noted.
For his part, the Brazilian envoy underscored that his country is keen to bolster trade ties with Jordan and strengthen cooperation with the private sector, saying his government is willing to sign a free trade agreement with the Kingdom.
He said Brazil seeks to increase its fertilizer imports from Jordan since its agriculture sector is rapidly developing, thus demanding more fertilizer imports.
Trade between Jordan and Brazil has significantly developed, he said, as Jordanian exports to Brazil in the last five months grew by 60 percent, while imports in the same period soared by 250 percent.
