Ammon News - Jordan and Egypt Monday held a meeting on implementing the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of establishing, operating and developing logistic areas between the two countries.

The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the meetings of the 30th session of the Joint Jordanian-Egyptian Higher Committee last February in Cairo.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, the virtual meeting highlighted the importance of vigorous follow-up and taking all necessary measures to implement partnership projects between Jordan and Egypt with the aim of strengthening self-sufficiency, especially in food security.

The SG of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, Dana Zoubi, talked about Jordan's successful experience in storage, especially in the horizontal storage process of grains (containers), which enabled the Kingdom to raise storage efficiency and its ability to sustain supply chains for these strategic commodities despite global challenges.

She added that the Jordanian government is planning to increase storage capacity to 24 months in 2023.

Al-Zoubi expressed the readiness of the Ministry to share its expertise with Egypt in this field.

The Deputy Minister of Internal Trade and Supply of Egypt, Ibrahim Ashmawy, briefed the gathering about the successful Egyptian experience in establishing, managing and operating a number of logistical zones and strategic warehouses in partnership with the Egyptian private sector, adding that the Egyptian private sector is keen to establish partnerships with the Jordanian private sector to that end.
