Ammon News - The Climate Change Impacts on Jordan’s Health Sector conference, organized by the Jordan Health Aid Society International (JHASI), kicked off on Tuesday at the Landmark Hotel in Amman.

The conference highlights Jordan's health sector and aims at developing its vision to combat climate change through partnerships between the private and public sectors.

In remarks during the launching ceremony, the Ministry of Health's Secretary-General Raed Shboul said Jordan was one of the first countries that ratified global agreements warning of the threat of climate change and started working on a flexible and sustainable health system, noting that the government had updated the 2021-2030 national strategy and action plan to adapt to climate change.

The ministry is working on implementing this strategy and plan in cooperation with the World Health Organization, he said, stressing the need to enhance adaptive capacity in all sectors.

Yaroup Ajlouni, President of the JHASI, said the conference will discuss climate change effects on public health, health economics, stability, cooperation, and security.
