Ammon News - Muhammed Balbisi, Vice President of the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA), and Waleed Gamal Eldin, Vice Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), on Thursday discussed investment collaboration opportunities between Jordan and Egypt.
In a statement on Thursday, Balbisi said the Jordanian and Egyptian sides reviewed projects established in the SCZONE.
He commended SCZONES's effort in bringing together business people of both countries to strengthen bilateral ties in commerce and investment, stressing the significance of Egypt as a partner of Jordan.
There are many Jordanian-Egyptian investments in various fields, he said, noting Jordan's interest in the Egyptian market to its size and diversity.
He expressed ambitions to forge partnerships with Egypt in industrial sectors, pointing to SCZONE's various investment packs.
The comprehensive industrial partnership for a sustainable economic development initiative that Jordan, the UAE, and Egypt signed is a positive step towards promoting economic integration in the industrial fields, he said, indicating that industrial exports constitute about 93 percent of total national exports.
For his part, Gamal Eldin explained the significance of the Suez Canal investment incentives for the Arab region.
He pointed out that approximately 12 percent of trade and about 18,000 ships annually pass through the canal, pointing out that the region contains 14 industrial developers, and 250 factories, in addition to providing 100,000 jobs with an investment of $18 billion.
