Ammon News - The Kingdom's trade balance deficit increased during the first quarter of 2022 by 20.3 percent, to reach JD2.283 billion, compared with the same period in 2021 that stood at JD1.899 billion, the Department of Statistics (DoS) said on Monday.
According to a DoS report on foreign trade, the volume of total exports in the January-March period of 2022 increased by 39.6 percent to JD1.992 billion, compared with the same period of 2021, when it stood at JD1.427 billion.
The value of national exports also increased this year by 43.1 percent, or JD1.815 billion, compared with 2021, when it stood at JD1.268 billion, according to DoS data.
The report also revealed that the value of re-exports stood at JD177.6 million, marking a 11.3 percent increase, compared with 2021, which amounted to JD159.5 million. Jordan's imports in 2022's first quarter rose by 28.6 percent to JD4.276 billion, compared with JD3.326 billion in 2021, the DoS figures showed.
