Ammon News - A team of neurosurgeons and brain surgeons at Al-Bashir Hospitals managed to remove a clinical meningioma for a 32-year-old patient who had been suffering from low vision and frequent headaches for a year.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Akaileh, a consultant brain, neurosurgeon and spine surgeon, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Sunday that the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) revealed the a clinical meningioma pressing on the optic nerve and optic junction and surrounding the main arteries of the brain.

Neurosurgery specialist Dr. Anas Hamidi, neurosurgical resident Dr. Mutahar Haddad, neurosurgery resident Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Hawamdeh, and consultant anesthetist and intensive care Dr. Yildar Shafafouj, in addition to doctors and anesthesia technicians and the neurosurgery staff assistant participated in the surgery.

Meningioma affects the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord, and constitutes about 20 per cent of primary brain tumors. Common symptoms of meningiomas include headaches, convulsions, fatigue, and visual disturbances.
