Ammon News - The registration of new businesses with the Companies Control Department has now returned to pre-coronavirus pandemic levels, the Companies General Controller, Wael Armouti, said on Sunday, Petra reported.
Armouti said Q1-2022 statistics reveal that the number of registered companies picked up by 3 percent compared with the figure reported in 2019, and up by 24.9 percent against 2021 figures.
Also, the capital of registered companies marked a 24-percent increase in the first quarter of the current year compared with the figured recorded in 2019, Armouti noted.
The statistics showed that 79 percent of new companies in the three-month period were registered in the capital, Amman, with a total capital of more than 56 million dinars, followed by Irbid with 7 percent, with a total capital of more than 2.8 million dinars, according to Petra.
The northeastern Mafraq governorate accounted for 3 percent of the registered companies during the first quarter, while Aqaba and Zarqa accounted for 2.6 percent each.
