Jordan participates in ALECSO regular session in Tunisia

Ammon News - Secretary of the Jordan National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, Ebtisam Ayoub, commended the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO)'s decision to choose Irbid as the capital of Arab culture for 2022.

The decision was taken in conjunction with the nomination of the late Jordanian poet Mustafa Wahbi Al-Tal (Arar) as the 2022 Arab symbol of culture.

Jordan is participating in the ALECSO's 26th regular session, which opened on Saturday in Tunis, in the presence of representatives of Arab member states, including ministers of education, culture and science, and heads of national committees for education, culture and science.

In Jordan's speech at the conference, Ayoub said that the discussion on education, its landscape, challenges and future aspirations for its development in the Kingdom is clearly evident in the Hashemite leadership keenness on developing and improving education.

She added that in implementation of royal directives on education, work is currently underway to implement a plan to develop education in Jordan, that includes all its stages, from pre-school education to university education.

She lauded ALECSO's effective role in contributing to the achievement of development goals, as it worked on the "Arab Plan for Education in Emergencies and Crises" project, which will have an impact on defining the action framework in the Arab region and avoiding the interruption of the educational process and reducing the percentage of educational loss in the event of any emergency.

Ayoub called for working together to empower Arab youth, develop their capabilities and skills that meet labor market needs, and engage them as active members of their societies.

ALECSO Director-General, Mohamed Ould Amar, commended the organization's efforts, despite the negative repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, to implement projects and activities programmed in its budget.
