Spokespersons of the Foreign Ministries of France, Germany, Italy and Spain voiced their deep concern by the scenes of heightened violence today in East-Jerusalem, according to a statement issued by the spokespersons.

It called to uphold and respect the historic status quo on the Holy Sites in Jerusalem and stress the importance of Jordan’s specific role in this regard.

The statement called on all sides to exercise maximum restraint as well as to refrain from violence and from all forms of provocation.
