Ammon News - The Ministry of Youth, in partnership with the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Monday launched the Job Search Club (JSC) project, which aims to help young job seekers find decent work opportunities.

The project, funded by the government of the Netherlands, is implemented by the non-profits Business Development Center (BDC) and Horizons International, under the slogan "Opportunities Don't Come Knocking on the Door."

The JSC project, an ILO program, aims to engage the participating youth in intensive activities for a period of two weeks to develop their job hunting skills.

The activities of the project in the Kingdom kicked off with the JSC Training of Facilitators course in the southern region, to spread out later to the northern and central regions, in addition to the Syrian refugee camps Azraq and Zaatari. The goal is to train 60 facilitators, who are employed by the Ministry of Youth, to enable some 300 young men and women within the age group (18-29) to obtain job opportunities.

Minister Mohammad Nabulsi said that empowering young people and enhancing their capabilities in accordance with the labor market needs falls under the National Youth Strategy's "youth and economic empowerment" section, lauding the partnership with stakeholders in implementing the project.

Director General of the BDC Ghaleb Hijazi said that these clubs will help young people access employment and self-employment opportunities, adding that the partnership and cooperation with the Ministry of Youth will help achieve sustainability in providing a service to young people and enabling them to access decent job opportunities that meet their aspirations.

Coordinator of the ILO Jordan Decent Work and Country Coordinator Frida Khan stated that "supporting Jordanian youth and Syrian refugee women and men to achieve their full potential and facilitate their access to decent work is vital to the priorities of the ILO's work in the country, which is something we focus on."

The methodology of job search clubs, she noted, not only promotes exchanges between young job seekers, but also allows young people to hone their job hunting abilities, in line with their qualifications, abilities and desires, and the labor market needs.
