Ammon News - To mark Jordan’s centenary, the Australian Embassy in Amman on Tuesday launched a book titled ‘Forged Under Fire: Celebrating an Enduring Partnership’, to celebrate over a century of partnership and friendship between Jordan and Australia.

The launching event of the book, produced in association with Jordan’s Royal Heritage Directorate and the Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs, was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness, Prince Mired bin Ra’ad.

A statement by the Embassy on Wednesday said that the book is a pictorial work charting the history of Jordan and Australia’s relationship, which has blossomed over the last half century through close cooperation in promoting international peace and security; strong diplomatic and trade ties, humanitarian and livelihood assistance to refugees and the host community, together with extensive people to people links including in technology, water management, agriculture, education and culture.

"Australia is particularly proud of the work of its academic institutions in uncovering the rich archaeological heritage of Jordan, notably the restoration of Jerash and the dig at Pella," the statement added.

The Australian Embassy in Amman is the largest of Australia’s embassies across the region, which reflects the important and multi-pronged nature of the bilateral relationship.
