Ammon News - The National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA) Monday launched an executive plan to strengthen protection against gender-based violence and domestic violence and child protection for the years 2021-2023.
NCFA Secretary-General Mohammad Miqdadi said that the Cabinet-approved executive plan is the fruit of national efforts to enhance the protection system, adding that the launch highlights Jordan's commitment to such issues.
Addressing gender-based violence, he indicated, calls for joint efforts among various institutions to lay down activities for the executive plan and follow up on them to enhance response to gender-based violence within an integrated holistic and institutional framework that ensures the provision of integrated multi-sectoral services to survivors of domestic violence.
The NCFA will partner with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the National Protection Team to prepare an annual report that monitors the plan's achievements and challenges. The report will be presented to the NCFA's Board of Trustees and the Cabinet for discussion and adoption, as well as taking the necessary measures to achieve the goals and objectives of the plan.
He pointed out that the council will also work with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and international and national institutions to go over the child protection aspect of the plan.
For her part, the Director of the UNFPA Jordan Office Enshrah Ahmed said that the plan is part of a series of procedures to develop the executive framework of the family protection system.
The fund, she added, is collaborating on the project as part of its Essential Services Package for Women and Girls Subject to Violence, which aims at providing greater access to a coordinated set of basic and quality multi-sectoral services in the sectors of health, social services, police and justice for everyone exposed to gender-based violence.
