Ammon News - Jordanian seed production companies export agricultural seeds to more than 50 countries across the world, Ministry of Agriculture said.
In a press statement Wednesday, the ministry noted all imported vegetable seeds are subject to "strict" instructions that require registration before being traded.
Registration requirements include a seed certification label confirming that seeds are not genetically modified, posted on imported shipment labels in a "clear and non-removable or tamper-proof" manner, the ministry pointed out.
On the other hand, the ministry denied "false information recently being circulated on social media alleging invalidity of Jordanian seeds," stressing that this information is "old and dates back to 2016, and relates to a company that was sold in 2018 to an international firm."
