Ammon News - Minister of Transport, Wajih Azaiza, on Tuesday discussed with his Egyptian counterpart Kamel -Wazir, ways to increase the volume of joint transport cooperation.
Speaking at the talks held on the sidelines of the Red Sea Maritime Transport and Logistics Conference (RSMTL) and Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee meetings, Azaiza noted "key" interest of Jordan's Ministry of Transport to increase cooperation prospects with its Egyptian counterpart, a press statement said.
The minister lauded the "noticeable" development in Egypt's transport sector, commending the "positive and constructive " Egyptian cooperation in aspects related to facilitating passenger and goods movement between the two countries.
For his part, Egyptian minister highlighted the "deep-rooted, historic" relations and "fruitful" cooperation in various fields, including the transport sector, stressing that the Egyptian Ministry of Transport puts all its capabilities at the disposal of Jordanian concerned authorities.
Discussions also went over cooperation in the railway field, as Azaiza invited a delegation of engineers specialized in the rail infrastructure from Egyptian National Railways (ENR), to visit Jordan to cooperate in developing the railway line, which extends from central Zarqa city to the capital Amman to Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) and prepare an integrated technical study on development plan, the statement added.
In addition, the two sides noted Arab Bridge Maritime (ABM), owned by Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, represents a "pioneering" model for cooperation at the Arab countries' level in the transport field, and has a "major" role in promoting inter-Arab trade and increasing the volume of Arab, Asian and African trade exchanges.
