Education Minister, Yemeni counterpart discuss cooperation

Ammon News - Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Wajih Owais, on Monday, with his Yemeni counterpart, Tariq Al-Akbari, who is visiting Jordan to participate in the launch of the "Heritage for Yemen's Generations" project, organized by the Petra National Trust (PNT).

The meeting was attended by HRH Princess Dana Firas, president of the Petra National Trust (PNT).

The project partially includes the implementation of the "Training of Trainers" program, in cooperation with the Yemeni Ministry of Education, which aims at training Yemeni teachers and educational supervisors to implement the extracurricular cultural and heritage education program, developed by the PNT, Princess Dana said.

She added that the program targets children of the age group (7-12) in Yemen, and aims to instill awareness among participants of the importance of cultural heritage, and enhance their sense of ownership and preservation of their heritage sites through interactive learning methods.

In the meeting, the two ministers also discussed ways to develop and enhance bilateral ties, especially in the educational field.

Owais highlighted the Jordanian educational experience, especially with regard to the uses of technology, stressing the ministry's keenness to develop this process, as it has taken advanced steps in studying and planning for this development in terms of forming technical committees, studying the landscape in partnership with various relevant stakeholders and rolling out implementation.

He pointed out that the Jordanian educational process is receiving great attention from the Hashemite leadership, which believes in its role in building qualified, trained and competitive human capital, which are key levers of the development and building process in the quest of societies to keep abreast with the accelerating pace of global civilization.

In turn, the Yemeni minister lauded the Jordanian educational experience, and its development, stressing keenness to benefit from this experience in the process of developing education that his country seeks to promote.

Al-Akbari highlighted the Yemeni educational experience and challenges it faces, adding that the Yemeni people are keen on overcoming these challenges and turn them into opportunities for development and improvement.
