Senate President, Japanese ambassador discuss ties

Ammon News - Senate President Faisal Fayez Monday discussed with Japanese ambassador to Jordan Hidenao Yanagi prospects for closer cooperation in economic, tourism, investment and other fields.

Fayez noted the deep-rooted Jordanian-Japanese relations, which His Majesty King Abdullah is keen to maintain, lauding Tokyo's economic support of the Kingdom.

The meeting also tackled the situation in the region and the need to find solutions to crises, especially the Palestinian issue, where Fayez reiterated Jordan's support of peace efforts and the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, stressing a two-state solution is the way to ending the Arab-Israeli conflict.

For his part, the envoy valued the Jordanian humanitarian and moral role, led by His Majesty the King, in the quest to achieve regional security and stability as well as hosting refugees and providing a decent life for them.

He underlined Tokyo's commitment to supporting Jordan in many fields and to further cooperate and coordinate with the Kingdom on the various issues.
