Area of licensed buildings up by 56.8% in first 11 months 2021- DoS

Ammon News - The total area of licensed buildings in the January-November period of 2021 increased to about 7.817 million square metres, compared with 4.986 million square metres during the same period of 2020, marking a 56.8% increase, the Department of Statistics (DoS) announced on Sunday.

The total number of building licences issued in the Kingdom increased 45.6 per cent during the first 11 months 2021 to 24,284 licences, when compared with the same period of 2020 that saw 67716 licenses, the department added.

The area of housing buildings totalled 6.849 million square metres in the January-November period of 2021, compared with 4.327 million square metres in the same period last year, registering a hike of 58.3 per cent, the DoS said.

The DoS stated in its report that the total area of buildings licensed for non-residential purposes showed an increase of 46.9 per cent, amounting to some 968,000 square metres in the first 11 months of 2021, compared with around 659,000 square metres in the same period last year.

Licensed buildings for housing comprised 87.6 per cent of the total area of licensed buildings, according to the department.
