Ammon News - The value of Jordan’s exports to Qatar amounted to QR468m, while imports were worth QR192m in 2021, bringing trade surplus to QR276m in favour of Jordan according to Planning and Statistics Authority, said Jordan News Agency Petra.
The data, obtained by Jordan News Agency, show that Jordan achieved a trade surplus with Qatar during the past four years, amounting to QR898m.
Driven by the strong relations between Qatar and Jordan, the bilateral trade between the two countries has increased over the years. The bilateral trade between the two countries is expected to rise further in the coming years.
According to Qatar News Agency, the total value of Qatari investments in Jordanian Stock Exchange reached 601 million Jordanian dinars at the end of September, which was the seventh-largest investment in Jordanian stocks, in terms of ownership of securities by nationality.
Data from Jordan’s Securities Depository Center revealed that Qatari investors own nearly 205 million Jordanian dinars financial securities last month.
Most of Qatari’s private sector exports to Jordan include various chemicals, such as automobile oils, sulfonic acid, luterin, aluminum briquettes, paraffin, polyethylene, iron rods, chemical fertilisers of various types, plastics, car engine oils, organic fertilisers, medical solutions, and food commodities.
The Jordan-Qatar trade balance during the past five years amounted to QR4.34bn, according to recent figures issued by the Planning and Statistics Authority.
In 2020, the trade balance recorded a surplus of QR276m in favour of Jordan, as the value of Jordan’s exports amounted to QR468m, compared to imports of QR192m, according to the PSA. According to PSA’s figures, the two countries’ trade balance was in favour of Jordan from 2018 to 2021, except for 2017 only.
The private sectors of both countries are committed to contributing to further strengthening of bilateral relations.
