Ammon News - Jordan and Syria are working side-by-side to bounce back economic cooperation, hoping to restore trade exchange to its former glory.
Leading the ambitious efforts is the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), which aims at shaping the Kingdom's ties with Syria and leveraging potential opportunities. To that end, the JCC organized the first foreign exhibition held on Syrian territory in years, laying the necessary groundwork and drawing up plans to achieve their goal.
According to a statement on Wednesday, the chamber and the participants in the exhibition said that they aspire to establish "new" trade ties with Syria, and leverage the great opportunities in the market to supply it with products, goods and services at reasonable prices and top quality.
Chairman of the JCC, Nael Kabariti, said the move to revive trade ties is a common interest for Jordan and Syria, stressing that the Kingdom is a gateway for Syrian imports, products and goods into other countries.
In an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra), participants in the exhibition described the Syrian market as "promising" for trade and investment and for establishing joint partnerships, in addition to enabling business expansions and setting a foothold into foreign markets.
The exhibition, co-organized with the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, brought together 50 companies operating in the trade and services sectors, along with 127 businessmen.
Vice-President of the Jordanian Free Zones Investors Authority, Sharaf al-Din Rifai, underlined that the authority's participation in the exhibition aimed at promoting investment opportunities in the Kingdom, and its strategic location in the region.
