Ammon News - The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Monday announced the appointment of Haitham al-Ghais from Kuwait as its secretary-general.
Euronews channel said in a statement the night before its monthly meeting that al-Ghais will replace Mohammad Barkindo who assumed the post in 2016.
The intergovernmental organisation, based in Vienna, Austria, noted that al-Ghais will officially assume his responsibilities as secretary-general in August.
