Ammon News - A total of 280,000 people have received the booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccines, the Ministry of Health revealed on Sunday.

COVID-19 pointman, Adel Balbisi, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the increased demand on vaccinations is "promising," calling on everyone to head to the nearest immunization center and get the jab, which reduces the severity of infection and death rate.

He stressed the need to receive the third booster shot for those who had received the second dose three months earlier to raise their individual immunity to 80 percent, especially against the coronavirus variant, Omicron.

The ministry, he indicated, is conducting tests on a large number of citizens to asses the epidemic curve, and enforce any measures needed to preserve the health of the Jordanian community.
