Drug dealers, promoters in Zarqa, Irbid arrested: PSD

Ammon News - Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel seized a quarter of a million narcotic pills that were hidden inside a vehicle in preparation for smuggling them to a neighboring country, in addition to seizing 21 palm-sized sheets of hashish and a quantity of narcotic pills in the possession of drug dealers in Irbid Governorate, northern Jordan.
A Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said AND personnel, as part of their ongoing campaigns against smugglers, promoters and dealers of narcotic drugs, have dealt with two cases of smuggling and promoting narcotics in the governorates of Zarqa and Irbid, during the past few days.
In Zarqa Governorate, northeast of Amman, following a tip on a group of people who had prepared a quantity of Captagon narcotic pills to be smuggled to a neighboring country by hiding them inside a vehicle, a special investigation team was able to identify the suspects and the vehicle to be used to smuggle narcotics, the spokesperson added.
Three suspects involved in the case were also arrested, and the vehicle was seized, in which 250,000 Captagon narcotic pills were found hidden in secret caches in the vehicle's body, the spokesperson announced.
In the second case in Irbid Governorate, 4 drug promoters and dealers were arrested after following up on a tip on narcotic drugs in their possession to be distributed, the spokesperson noted. "Following their arrest, 21 kilograms of palm-sized sheets of hashish, a quantity of narcotic pills, 80 grams of crystal narcotic and a firearm were found in their possession."
All suspects involved in these cases were referred to the State Security Court, the spokesperson concluded.
