Ammon News - The Jordanian Parliamentary Friendship Association with Asia and Oceania, discussed with the Indian Ambassador to Jordan, Anwar Haleem, ways to enhance the bilateral relations in all fields, which would reflect "positively" on serving the common interests.
Speaking at a meeting on Sunday with Haleem, the association’s president, MP Abdul Rahim Ma’aya, stressed the "deep-rooted" Jordanian-Indian friendship relations, which were established by the two countries' leaderships, stressing the keenness to strengthen the ties and benefit from expertise and opportunities available in both countries.
Ma'aya expressed his admiration for the Indian expertise at various levels, adding that Jordan, under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership, is looking forward to strengthening Amman-New Delhi relations at various levels, especially at the parliamentary, commercial, agricultural, tourism and investment levels.
Ma'aya also stressed the importance of signing memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements to serve both countries' benefits, voicing the need to exchange expertise and information to face Covid-19 pandemic, which affected the entire world.
In turn, the association's members lauded the "deep-rooted historic" relations between the two countries and ways to advance them.
The lawmakers also stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation aspects in the economic, trade, agriculture, tourism, investment, education sectors, adding that India is a "leading and developed" country in all fields and constitutes a "model," to benefit from its expertise.
For his part, the Indian envoy commended the "deep-rooted, historic" relations between the two friendly countries, pointing out that his country is interested in developing joint relations with Jordan at various levels, especially at the parliamentary, economic, commercial, investment, agricultural, cultural, tourism and educational levels.
Noting Jordan as a model for security and stability at the world level, the diplomat expressed his country's appreciation for the Kingdom's efforts, under the King's leadership, in its continuous pursuit of security and stability in the region.
Haleem stressed the need to coordinate efforts between the Jordanian and Indian parliaments to achieve the common interests.
The envoy reviewed the volume of Jordanian-Indian trade and investment exchange and the Indian projects on Jordanian soil, expressing his readiness to work on opening prospects for joint cooperation to serve common benefits.
