Ammon News - The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said that the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence Against Children (SRSG/VAC), Najat Maalla M’jid, is currently visiting the Kingdom to examine the Jordanian experience in eliminating violence against children.

A UNICEF statement explained that the visit, which concludes in December 16, comes within the framework of expressing the appreciation of the SRSG/VAC for the Jordanian government's commitment to prevent violence against children, and support joint efforts to expand the scope of work to eliminate forms of violence against children.

M’jid will meet directly with children, women and local communities, and hold extensive consultations with all stakeholders, including ministers, policy makers, civil society institutions, NGOs, the National Center for Human Rights (NCHR), the National Council For Family Affairs (NCFA), United Nations organizations and local communities, the statement said.

The UN Secretary-General has appointed Najat Maalla M’jid of Morocco as Special Representative on Violence against Children on May 30, 2019.
