Jordan’s trade balance deficit with GAFTA increases

The Kingdom’s trade balance deficit with the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) increased by 92.4 percent to some JD1.303 billion in the third-quarter of 2021, compared with JD677 million in the same period of 2020, the Department of Statistics (DoS) reported on Wednesday.

In a statement, the DoS said that the national exports to GAFTA countries in the July-September period of 2021 went up by 14.1 percent to JD1.681 billion, compared with JD1.473 million in 2020.

"The national imports also climbed during the third-quarter of this year by 38.7 percent to JD2.984 billion, compared with JD2.150 billion in 2020," the report added.
