Ammon News - President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Fathi Jaghbir, on Thursday hailed the cabinet's decision to launch, as of next year, an electronic platform for registering the Kingdom’s imports, to facilitate Jordan's international trade with countries that use similar programs.
The cabinet, in a session held on Wednesday, approved the implementation of the program as of January 1, 2022 to acquaint the private sector with the regulating conditions of the program and to give enough time for the registration process.
The decision comes with the aim of enhancing quality control on products imported to the Kingdom and raising the safety levels of the products imported into the Jordanian market.
Jaghbir described the decision as a positive step towards supporting, protecting and boosting the competitiveness of national products, noting that it came to meet the demands of the industrial sector to implement the reciprocity principle with countries that put restrictions on Jordanian exports.
"Such step will empower the national product; as it can completely fill the needs of the local market," he explained.
