Humanity's unluckiest ever deaths – from severed cobra heads to fatal laughing fits

Ammon News - Most of us just fade away from old age, but a few unlucky people met their maker in strange ways… including one bloke who laughed himself to death after watching a classic TV comedy.

Some people meet their end in very bizarre ways...

Here are the unluckiest deaths ever - from cows falling through the roof to a man tripping over his impressive beard.

BAD MOOS: Another Brazilian, Joao Maria de Souza, 45, died in 2013 when a cow fell through the roof of his home and landed on top of him as he lay in bed. The animal had climbed on to the roof from a steep hill near the property in Caratinga.

HAT’S NASTY: Ancient Greek politician Draco was making a speech when the crowd began throwing clothes and hats at him to show their affection, but he was smothered under their weight and died.

SPIRITED FINALE: When Charles II of Navarre, Spain, fell ill in 1387 his physician ordered him to be wrapped from head to foot in linen soaked with brandy, but it caught fire killing him aged 54.

BALLS UP: In 1794 American sea captain John Kendrick was killed eating breakfast on the deck of his ship when a British vessel fired a cannon meant as a salute in his honour.

CHIN-CREDIBLE: Bavarian mayor Hans Steininger was proud of his 4ft 6in-long beard. But in 1567 he died after tripping over it and breaking his neck.

COURTING DISASTER: In 1871 lawyer Clement Vallandigham shot himself dead when defending a man charged with murder. He was using a gun in court to demonstrate how the victim could have shot ­himself by accident. The accused got off.

BITE UNFORTUNATE: Chinese chef Peng Fan died in 2014 after being bitten by the head of a cobra he had chopped off 20 minutes earlier and set aside.

POOR SOUL: Russian woman Fagilyu Mukhametzyanov, 49, who had wrongly been declared dead by doctors, woke up in a coffin at her own funeral in 2011 only to die from a heart attack caused by the shock.


NO JUSTICE: Convicted US killer Michael Anderson Godwin, 28, escaped the electric chair on appeal. But he died in 1989 from electrocution when he bit into a wire trying to fix some earphones.

TRAGIC EPISODE: Brit Alex Mitchell died in 1975 after laughing for half an hour watching comedy show The Goodies.

LAST TANGO: Portuguese dance teacher Alberto Fargo died in 1998 falling from the fifth floor of a building. He was doing the tango and didn’t notice an open window.

FREAK ACCIDENT: Ex-ELO musician Mike Edwards was killed in 2010, aged 62, when a hay bale rolled down a hill and hit the van he was driving in Devon.

FATAL CALL: Earlier this year the dead body of a missing 39-year-old man was found inside a dinosaur statue in Barcelona. It is thought he had become trapped and died while trying to retrieve his mobile phone.
