Agreement signed to remove Mujib Dam's sediments

Ammon News - The Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) and the Royal Engineering Corps Directorate signed an agreement to clean and remove sediment and silt from the Mujib Dam.

A statement by the authority on Monday said that the deal, inked by JVA Acting Secretary General Manar Mahasna and Director of the royal corps Brigadier General Imad Khamaiseh, aims to maintain the dam's storage capacity in gearing up for the upcoming wet season.

The agreement came as part of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides on exchanging expertise and heavy engineering machinery needed to implement water harvesting projects, excavations as well as earth dams.

The two parties have began cleaning the Mujib dam, which has a storage capacity of 29 million cubic meters (mcm) of water and is used for drinking, irrigation and other industrial uses, the statement noted.
