Ammon News - Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, said the ministry is preparing its plans and action axes based on the Royal vision to develop the agricultural sector, which constitutes a "road map for its work."

Hneifat, in a press statement on Monday, said the Jordanian Palestinian Company for Marketing Agricultural Products (JPCMAP) was established under Royal directives.

The company, he said, will work within its three phases to outline a "clear" framework to address all marketing distortions and helps farms find "new" markets for their products.

The ministry, he noted, has allocated a "large" sum of interest-free loans, at the value of JD35 million, for water-saving technology projects, techniques to increase production, and reduce production costs , including the seed sector.

The government is implementing the Royal visions in the food security file as part of a "comprehensive and participatory" strategy for a number of sectors, he said.

All the gov't plans are aligned with the food security strategy, including a program aimed to further increase cultivation of imported crops and embrace a policy focusing on value-added export crops and food industries, according to Hneifat.

The ministry, he said, launched a program for training targeting the agricultural sector, in cooperation with the National Employment and Training Corporation (NETC), run with the assistance of Jordan Armed Foreces (JAF), where the number of trainees nearly stood at 5,000 in pioneering sectors and agricultural professions, of whom 1, 500 came from the Jordan Valley areas.
