Jordan, Japan discuss cooperation in construction, contracting

Ammon News - Minister of Public Works and Housing, Yahya Kisbi, on Tuesday met with Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Jordan office, Miyahara Chie, and the accompanying delegation.

The meeting discussed bolstering cooperation between the two parties in the field of housing, construction and contracting, especially in the field of road maintenance.

The meeting also dealt with ways of transferring the latest technologies and machines used in Japan to Jordan in order to raise the work efficiency in the Kingdom in the field of road maintenance as well as maintaining and providing the necessary support from the Japanese government to build roads and bridges leading to the King Hussein Bridge crossing due to their vital and humanitarian importance.

Kisbi said that the Japanese previous funding for the project of the King Hussein Bridge and the road leading to it is a good and clear Japanese gesture to consolidate peace in the region due to the vital and humanitarian importance of the road.

Kisbi highlighted projects implemented by the ministry, projects under implementation and their progress, and measures the ministry is taking to follow up on projects, in addition to the precautionary measures that it takes to preserve the safety of workers.

He lauded JICA's efforts and its permanent and continuous support for the housing, construction and contracting sector in Jordan, in addition to the courses that the agency is constantly holding to raise the efficiency of cadres working in the public sector.

For her part, Chie commended the Ministry's efforts and its permanent and continuous cooperation with the agency, expressing keenness to enhance cooperation that serves the two friendly countries.
