Ammon News - The mobile phones market has grown a key sector of the economy in Jordan, providing about 10,000 job opportunities across the Kingdom, and supplying the local market with the latest technologies, Head of the Association for Mobile Investors (Vision) Ahmad Alloush said on Sunday.
Alloush highlighted that the sector, which includes about 2,500 stores throughout the country, is facing some obstacles preventing merchants from upgrading their businesses.
The head of the association, established in 2018 with 250 members, stressed the need to strengthen partnership between the public and private sectors, which would reflect on the Kingdom's business environment, pointing to the continued cooperation with the Jordan Chamber of Commerce to serve the sector's interest.
The association aims at creating an umbrella for the cellular devices sector and regulating the relationship between the sector's agents and traders, he noted, adding that it has made many achievements, including changing the tax on phones from general to special one in order to reduce the fee burden on small shop owners.
