Ammon News - A man owes his life to his Apple Watch after it detected his fall and called an ambulance when he was involved in a motorbike crash.

Muhammad Fitri, 24, was reportedly knocked to the ground when he collided with a van, and he lost consciousness as the other vehicle was driving away.

The next thing he knew he was surrounded by emergency service workers, as his Apple Watch sprung into action when Muhammad lay unresponsive.

Members of the Singapore Civil Defence Force then rushed to the scene and the motorbike rider was taken to local Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

According to local reports, the incident is now being investigated by police as a hit and run.

Muhammad told the newspaper Lianhe Wanbao that his Apple Watch automatically contacted the emergency services as well as important contacts, including his girlfriend.

Apple Watch models from Series four can reportedly detect falls and will show an alert or sound an alarm. Then, if it is unable to detect movement for at least a minute, the device will then contact the emergency services as well as specified contacts.

Other manufacturers of smartwatches also provide this function with their models, such as the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3.

Meanwhile, online retailer Tesco Mobile has just announced huge bargain deals on the new iPhone 13 range - but the great offers are around for a limited time only.

The latest Apple smartphones include the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone Pro Max, which all feature bigger batteries and an A15 Bionic chip that provides between 1.5 and 2.5 hours more battery per day.
