Arab Renewable Energy Commission

Ammon News - The Arab Renewable Energy Commission (AREC) and a Polish delegation discussed joint cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, smart cities, smart grid technologies and electric cars.

A statement by the Commission on Thursday said that the meeting, held between AREC Secretary-General Muhammad Al-Taani and Polish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pawel Jablonski, dealt with ways to develop a road map in order to ensure practical and scientific achievements, especially the establishment of joint cooperation between renewable energy companies in Poland and Jordan.

Al-Taani highlighted the global interest in boosting cooperation with the Kingdom, which is a gateway to investment for many Arab nations due to its trained technical competencies and infrastructure, noting that Jordan's geographical location is the basis for electric interconnection, mainly renewable energy and the transfer of energy sources, between various countries in the Middle East.

The two sides also agreed on holding renewable energy conference in Poland in April next year, which will be attended by representatives from several Arab countries. They also agreed to launch joint projects in using solar energy in heating and cooling, and storing energy in the Kingdom, according to the statement.

The head of the Polish delegation underscored the importance of cooperation with Jordan in various domains, praising Jordan's key role in the region in the areas of sustainable development and green economy in addition to preserving the environment as well as reducing climate change.

AREC is the Commission representing all stakeholders involved in renewable energy in the Arab world. It operates under the council of Arab Economic Unit of the League of Arab State as no-profit organization founded in 2011 in Amman and recognized by a Royal Decree.
