U.S. to raise refugee cap to 125,000 for 2022

Ammon News - The U.S. President Joe Biden's administration submitted a plan to the Congress to raise the refugee cap for fiscal year 2022 to 125,000, White House sources announced on Monday.

According to the Washington Post, the plan aims to address needs generated by humanitarian crises around the globe.

In a statement, State Department spokesman Ned Price said "Today, the State Department is reaffirming our commitment to refugee resettlement in line with our long tradition of providing a safe haven and opportunity to individuals fleeing persecution."

"With the world facing unprecedented global displacement and humanitarian needs, the United States is committed to leading efforts to provide protection and promote durable solutions to humanitarian crises," he added.
