Ammon News - McDonald's drive thrus are perfect to pick up a quick bite to eat when you're on the road.

But occasionally it doesn't all go to plan and you're asked to wait in one of the nearby bays for your order to be brought to your car to avoid delaying the queue behind you.

You might assume it's simply because it will take a few minutes to prepare your food, but one woman who says she used to work at the fast food chain claims there might be an ulterior motive.

TikTok user Eliseeee69 posted a video with the caption: "Because I don't work at McDonald's anymore, I think it's time to spill the tea."

The ex-employee claimed that some customers were sent to wait longer for their food in a bay as punishment for being rude to the staff dealing with them at the drive thru.

She said: "If you're rude to us we will purposefully take ages to give you your food or park you up in a bay."

Manners cost nothing, but if you want your fast food to live up to its name, it might pay to be polite to the staff who are in control of your order.

And with that in mind, another former employee warned that staff at the drive thru can hear you even when you don't suspect it.

She said: "When you pull forward in the drive-thru we can already see you and hear you, even though we haven't said hello.

"When we actually put you on pause because we are busy, we can still hear you - the amount of insults I heard."

This was echoed by another staff member, who said: "As soon as you drive up to the speaker, we get a beep over our headsets and the transmission begins.

"If we don't answer you right away - we can hear everything. If we apologise and say we'll be with you in a minute - you're not on hold, we can hear everything."
