Ammon News - The Mexican Embassy in Jordan has held a webinar on business and trade opportunities between Jordan and Mexico, in coordination with the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade (COMCE) and Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC).

In a press statement on Sunday, the embassy said the event is the first after signing a joint memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance economic cooperation at the private sector level and serve mutual interests.

Speaking during the virtual event, Chairman of the Mexican-Jordanian Business Committee, Alberto Varela Morales, expressed readiness to provide advice and support in commercial, legal and cultural fields, and facilitate contacts with potential partners.

Morales stressed the embassies' role in strengthening Jordanian-Mexican trade and cultural relations by exchanging expertise in various fields, adding that the MoU is an "important" step to facilitate and support companies, trade exchange and joint investments.

Also speaking remotely, Mexican Ambassador to Jordan, Roberto Rodriguez, pointed to the need to enhance learning Spanish in Jordan and Arabic in Mexico, which would facilitate and increase joint trade flows.

The envoy stressed the importance of benefiting from free trade agreements (FTA) signed with the United States to stimulate trade.

To avoid competing local industries, he said negotiation on specific products, which are needed in both markets, is encouraged.

Jordan's Ambassador to Mexico, Mohammed Al-Tal, said the two countries have "remarkable" potential to increase economic and trade exchanges, including in the agro-food, pharmaceutical and tourism sectors.

Both countries should draw up a list of products with the "highest" export potentials and organize business events to achieve these goals, Al-Tal said.
