Zawati: Jordan to work with partners to help Lebanon

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zawati, on Thursday, said His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed that Jordan will work with partners and friends to help Lebanon.

Responding to a question on possibility of supplying Lebanon with electric power from Jordan and Egyptian gas via the Kingdom and Syria to Lebanon, Zawati said assistance to Lebanon and the brotherly Lebanese people was at a "top" topic raised by His Majesty during his recent visit to Washington aas well as his ongoing international and regional discussions and contacts.

The minister affirmed Jordan's readiness to provide all "possible" support to Lebanon and provide it with electric power from Jordan's electric grid and deliver Egyptian gas through Jordan and Syria to Lebanon.

These issues were discussed "extensively" with officials in Lebanon, Syria and Egypt, in addition to United States administration and our partners in the international community in the recent period, Zawati pointed out.


The minister also said discussions are continuing on ways to achieve this goal, adding that: "We will do everything we can to help our Lebanese brethren."
