Ammon News - The third International Conference in Support of the Lebanese People was concluded on Wednesday, by allocating more than $357 million for the next year.

The conference, organised by France and the United Nations, saw the participation of 33 countries, 13 international organizations and 5 representatives of Lebanese civil society .

A year after the Beirut port explosion, participants in the conference and the Lebanese people commemorated this anniversary, and demanded that the Lebanese political class be held accountable to ensure shedding the full light on the explosion.

According to a statement issued by the conference, the entire aid pledged a year ago has been disbursed, and participants have responded to another UN humanitarian appeal for $357 million for the next 12 months, to which significant in-kind assistance should be added.

The conference participants welcomed the appointment of Najib Mikati as prime minister and called for the formation of a government dedicated to saving the country.

They noted that Lebanon will soon receive about $900 million from the comprehensive and unconditional allocation of Special Drawing Rights to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), with the main objective of addressing the recession and the consequences of the health crisis.
