Ammon News - A Jewish settler Monday fired shots on a crowd protesting the eviction of Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in occupied East Jerusalem, injuring a protester, according to the Palestinian red Crescent Society.
It said the settler opened fire on the demonstrators who gathered to express solidarity with families threatened with the forced eviction, moderately injuring a protester in the leg. Israeli police cordoned off the area as settlers gathered nearby.
The higher Israeli court was due today to look into an appeal by the lawyers of four Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah against the eviction orders, which stirred an international outcry. The court had not responded whether it will accept or reject the petition.
Elsewhere in the occupied Palestinian lands, Israeli troops arrested 16 Palestinians during raids in the West Bank cities of Hebron, Ramallah, Nablus, Tulkarem and Jenin.
