Civil Service Bureau

Ammon News - President of the Civil Service Bureau (CSB), Sameh Nasser, called on high school graduates to choose technical and vocational education, as a national necessity, in order to invest in energies of young people in line with labor market needs.

In an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra) published on Saturday, Nasser said unemployment requires a full national effort, starting with the family, to encourage children to study professional and technical disciplines, and to move to future professions required in the labor market and related to technology and digitization.

He underscored the necessity of informing students and their families, before choosing a university major, about reports and studies of supply and demand for majors announced by the CSB on its website (required, not required, stagnant and saturated).

He called for a realistic perspective on the educational output in the Kingdom, especially since 65 to 70 thousand students graduates annually from universities, 35,000 of whom are from educational and humanitarian specializations, and about 8000 people are appointed annually in all departments, while 70 percent of students in foreign countries study professional and technical specializations.

On the other hand, a group of successful candidates in the competitive examination in 2019 demanded that they be nominated for appointment to the Ministry of Education, before the expiry of their competitive examination in February 2022, as the validity lasts three years according to the system.

In that context, he explained that the CSB's role is organizational and does not interfere with departments' needs, as it nominates people according to selection and appointment instructions in light of the needs that come from ministries and departments.

He pointed out that the CSB nominates 6 persons for each job, according to the competitive entitlements listed in the competitive examination, whether educational, health or other specialties, and then those with the highest marks are nominated for personal interviews at the rate of 3 persons for each job.

He added that the number of candidates for the competitive examination is 32,000, and the CSB has nominated a number of them according to the available vacancies in coordination with the Ministry of Education.

On the Education Ministry’s response to this year’s appointments, the ministry's secretary general for administrative and financial affairs, Najwa Qubailat, told (Petra), that the ministry appoints according to the formations table, which determines the number of vacancies for each ministry, as the number of vacancies created for this year on the formations table is 3000 vacancies that have been approximately filled, and their owners will join the ministry in August.

The general stock of job applications in the public sector exceeded 423,000 applications in 2021, and job seekers in the humanitarian and educational disciplines constitute the largest part of it.
