Ammon News - The Jordan News Agency, Petra, on Friday marks its 52nd anniversary, during a march of journalistic work that is biased towards Jordan and its key issues.

The agency reiterated its commitment to fulfill the concept of state media that represents society and carries the message of the Jordanian state and its institutions, placing the Palestinian cause at the forefront of the Arab issues.

Established in 1969 as an independent body, a special ordinance was enacted to give the agency financial and administrative independence and to specify the powers of the agency's board and those of the director general.

On the occasion, Director-General of the agency Fayeq Hijazin said: "Petra has a leading position among its Arab counterparts due to its spread locally and regionally and contributes to providing information to the audience that enables them to shape an opinion related to the issues at stake."

During the media coverage, Hijazin added, the agency is paying attention to the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, namely, the Israeli attacks on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy city of Jerusalem.
